From the Couch to a Triathlon RSS

I'm a 30-something guy who looked in the mirror one day and found himself a couch potato. After watching one of my friends do a triathlon, I decided it was time to do one myself. Follow me on my journey through the ups and downs of training.

    2009-09-22: injured!

Yesterday I eluded to the fact that my foot didn’t feel good while I was running.  Today, it is obvious that I need to take at least a day off the run to let it heal.  I’ll probably head up to the pool to swim again, but I’m not sure about the run.  The good news is that I was really cranking yesterday during the run, which was actually making me feel better about my progress.  Hopefully this will be a small injury that will be resolved quickly and not something worse like a stress fracture.

Worst part about this is that when I got my new shoes and was complaining, my Dad convinced me to go to the store where I got them and talk to them about it.  In my infinite wisdom, I never made it there and this is quite possibly a direct result.  Though, in my slight defense, I had figured out that if I didn’t tie my shoes as tightly, the foot pain was not nearly as noticeable, which is most likely why I didn’t get to the store as soon as I should have.

Anyway, I have two things to try and figure out in the waning hours of today.  First, I need to go to my shoe place and ask them about the shoes.  Second, I need to find a sports medicine place that can see me today and tell me if I did something really bad to my foot.
