Who we are

CouchToTri ("we", "us") provides AI-assisted triathlon training guidance for beginners at couchtotri.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, the app, and Coach Finn.

Information you give us

Email address, when you request the free guide or join a mailing list, along with basic source information (for example the campaign or page you came from).

Account information, when you create an account. Sign-in and identity are handled by our authentication provider, Clerk, which stores your email and login credentials on our behalf.

Your training profile and health screening, which you provide during onboarding: your experience level, swimming ability, available days and time, goal race, your reasons for training, and your answers to a pre-exercise health screening (PAR-Q) plus your acknowledgement of the safety terms. Some of this is health-related information, and we treat it with care.

Your training activity, including workouts you log or complete, how sessions felt (perceived effort and notes), daily check-ins, and anything you write in your journal or in chat with Coach Finn.

Information we collect automatically

Usage and device information through analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics help us understand how the site is used (pages viewed, general location, device type, referring source). These tools use cookies or similar identifiers.

Cookies we set include a session cookie for staying signed in (via Clerk), a small cookie that records you requested the free guide so we can deliver it, and the analytics cookies above. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some may affect how the site works.

How we use your information

To build and adapt your training plan and to let Coach Finn give you relevant, safer guidance.

To run the medical-screening safety gate, so we do not prescribe training before it is appropriate.

To send you the free guide and, if you opted in, occasional helpful emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.

To operate, secure, measure, and improve the service, and to comply with our legal obligations.

Coach Finn and AI processing

Coach Finn is powered by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic). To generate coaching, we send your chat messages and relevant training context (such as today's planned session and recent activity) to that provider, which processes them to produce a reply. Please do not share information in chat that you would not want processed this way. We do not use your private training data to train third-party AI models.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run CouchToTri, under contracts that limit their use of it: Clerk (authentication), Neon (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting), Anthropic (AI coaching), Google (analytics), and our email delivery provider.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect safety or our rights, or in connection with a business transfer.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then for a reasonable period to meet legal, safety, and record-keeping needs. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data (see Your rights).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of the EU/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) have these or similar rights, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

We and our providers are based in or process data in the United States. If you access CouchToTri from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries, which may have different data-protection rules than your own.

Children

CouchToTri is intended for adults (18 and over) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date below and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
